ExportMyChat ("we", "our", or "the extension") is a browser extension that allows users to export, edit, and manage AI chat conversations from platforms like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and DeepSeek. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data and protect your privacy.

By using ExportMyChat, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

We want to be absolutely clear about what we DON'T do:

• We do NOT collect your chat conversations - Your AI chat data never leaves your device
• We do NOT track your usage - No analytics, telemetry, or tracking scripts
• We do NOT sell your data - We have no data to sell
• We do NOT store data on our servers - We don't have any servers
• We do NOT require account creation - No email addresses or personal information needed
• We do NOT use cookies - Except for essential browser storage APIs

3. How ExportMyChat Works

3.1 Local Data Processing

ExportMyChat operates entirely within your browser using the following local storage mechanisms:

• Chrome Storage API: Temporarily stores chat data during the export process
• IndexedDB: Stores your saved chats, presets, and settings locally in your browser
• localStorage: Stores user preferences like theme and language settings

3.2 Content Script Permissions

The extension requires permission to access specific AI chat platforms to extract conversation content:

• chatgpt.com and chat.openai.com
• claude.ai
• gemini.google.com
• chat.deepseek.com

Important: The extension only reads content from these pages when you explicitly click the "Export" button. It does not continuously monitor or transmit your conversations.

4. Google Drive Integration (Optional)

4.1 What Data is Stored

If you choose to enable Google Drive sync, the extension will store the following in YOUR personal Google Drive:

• Saved chat conversations (as JSON files)
• Style presets and settings (as JSON files)
• Metadata for synchronization purposes

4.2 Google Drive Permissions

ExportMyChat requests the drive.file scope, which means:

• ✅ We can ONLY access files created by our extension
• ✅ Data is stored in a dedicated app folder in your Drive
• ❌ We CANNOT access your other Google Drive files
• ❌ We CANNOT read your emails, contacts, or other Google data

4.3 Data Transmission

When Google Drive sync is enabled:

• Data is transmitted directly between your browser and Google's servers using secure HTTPS connections
• We do not have any intermediate servers that see or store your data
• You can view all synced files directly in your Google Drive
• You can delete all synced data at any time

4.4 Revoking Access

You can revoke ExportMyChat's access to your Google Drive at any time by:

1. Visiting Google Account Permissions
2. Finding "ExportMyChat" in the list
3. Clicking "Remove Access"

5. Data Export and Sharing

ExportMyChat allows you to export your conversations in various formats (PDF, DOCX, HTML, Markdown, JSON, TXT). When you export:

• Files are generated locally in your browser
• Files are downloaded directly to your computer
• No data is sent to any external servers during export
• You have complete control over what you do with exported files

6. Third-Party Services

6.1 AI Chat Platforms

ExportMyChat integrates with third-party AI platforms (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek). Each platform has its own privacy policy:

6.2 Google APIs

When using Google Drive sync, we use Google's APIs, which are subject to:

ExportMyChat is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with information, please contact us (though we don't collect such information).

We take data security seriously:

• All data stored locally uses browser's built-in security features
• Google Drive sync uses OAuth 2.0 authentication
• All data transmission to Google Drive uses HTTPS encryption
• We follow browser extension security best practices
• Regular security updates and patches

9. Your Rights and Control

You have complete control over your data:

• Access: All your data is stored locally and accessible through the extension
• Delete: You can delete any saved chats or presets at any time
• Export: Export all your data as JSON files
• Disable Sync: Turn off Google Drive sync anytime
• Uninstall: Removing the extension deletes all local data (Google Drive data remains unless you delete it)

10. Updates to Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

For significant changes that affect how we handle your data, we will provide notice through the extension or our GitHub repository.
